DETROIT -- The Detroit Pistons beat the Golden State Warriors, 111-102, on Friday night in front of 20,332 fans at the Little Caesars Arena.
It was Detroit's fifth consecutive win and it spoiled the return of Steph Curry who was held to seven points in the opening half before finishing with 27 points. Curry, who missed 11 games with a groin injury, made 10-of-21 field goals but missed six of nine treys,
Blake Griffin led the way for Detroit with 26 points and six rebounds while Andre Drummond added 16 with 19 boards. Stanley Johnson erupted for 19 points off the bench and Reggie Jackson added 17 as the Pistons converted 43 of 98 filed goals (43.9 percent) and 12 of 35 from downtown (34.3 percent).
"That's obviously a great win. You could tell by the crowd and the atmosphere tonight that we are facing a big team, and we protected our home floor, "a victorious Griffin told reporters post-game.
Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson combined for 49 points for Golden State, but the defending champs couldn't get their 3-point shooting in high gear, making only six of 26 from long distance. The Warriors were also out-rebounded 47-44, and had three more turnovers with 14.
With their eighth win in 10 games, the Detroit Pistons improved to 13-7 to remain in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
The Warriors, meanwhile, have lost two in a row and fell to 15-9 for fourth place in the powerhouse Western Conference.
