NBA - - Celtics knock off Wolves, 118-109

MINNEAPOLIS - On a frigid, wintry Saturday night when the temperatures dropped to 30 degrees fahrenheit, the Minnesota Timberwolves fell to the the visiting Boston Celtics, 118-109, at the Target Center.
All-Star Gordon Hayward paced the Celtics with an all-around performance of 30 points, nine boards, eight dimes, and two steals while going and 10-for10 from the free throw line. Kyrie Irving fired 21 points with nine assists, Jayson Tatum pocketed 19 with nine rebounds, while Marcus Morris and Al Horford pitched in 16 and 15 points, respectively.
Meanwhile, former NBA MVP Derrick Rose, a strong candidate for Sixth Man of the Year award this season, finished with 26 points on 11-for-18 shooting from the field including 2-for-3 from the rainbow territory.
Karl-Anthony Towns netted 20 with nine rebounds, Robert Covington and Andrew Wiggins delivered 17 points apiece, while Jeff Teague and Taj Gibson shared 11.
It was an entertaining contest with several lead changes and witnessed by 17, 663 fans who braved the arena drive on a snowy night.
The Celtics of bench tactician Brad Stevens improved to 13-10.

The Wolves (11-12 card) and 9-4 at home will stay home and face reigning NBA MVP James Harden and the Houston Rockets Monday night (Tuesday RP Time) while the Celtics goes home to Massachusetts State and host Emmanuel Mudiay, Tim Hardaway Jr. and the New York Knicks on Thursday night at the TD Garden.
