OSCAR DE LA HOYA FOUNDATION HOSTS 22nd ANNUAL TURKEY GIVEAWAY PhilBoxing.com Sun, 18 Nov 2018  (L-R: Tito Ortiz, Eric Gomez and Chuck Liddell pose for the media at today's Oscar De La Hoya Foundation Turkey Giveaway on Nov. 17 in Los Angeles) LOS ANGELES (Nov. 17, 2018): The Oscar De La Hoya Foundation hosted its 21st Annual Turkey Giveaway today at Oscar De La Hoya ?nimo Charter High School to lend a helping hand to East Los Angeles families as they celebrate Thanksgiving this year. The Foundation served turkeys to hundreds of families today and distributed additional turkeys to local organizations, churches and Green Dot Public Schools. MMA Legends Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz, along with President of Golden Boy Promotions Eric Gomez, were all on site to help distribute food to the families in attendance. "This is something that is very special for Oscar, who has been doing it for 22 years," said Eric Gomez, President of Golden Boy Promotions. "This is something that is close to our hearts. We grew up here in East Los Angeles. This is our hometown. There are a lot of people in need in these areas, especially during the holidays, so it's always nice to give back to the community." The event was made possible by Mission Foods, Tampico, 4Earth Farms and Sombra Apparel. About the Oscar De La Hoya Foundation: In 1995, Chairman and CEO Oscar De La Hoya started his honorable OscarDe La Hoya Foundation to help improve the quality of life for the community in his hometown of East Los Angeles. Today, with the help many partners, the foundation serves thousands of people annually. The Oscar De La Hoya Foundation supports the Oscar De La Hoya ?nimo Charter High School, the Cecilia Gonzalez De La Hoya Cancer Center and the Oscar De La Hoya Labor and Delivery Center and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (both located at White Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles) in addition to various after school programs that promotes positive lives and protect youth from the circumstances of living in underprivileged communities.  |
