General Trias City, Cavite Mayor Antonio "Ony" Ferrer fetes young athletes

GENERAL Trias City, Cavite---Young Filipino athletes from General Trias City, Cavite who hauled medals during the Thailand Pattaya Youth Chess Championship 2018 in Pattaya, Thailand on Tuesday expressed jubilation as the City Government rolled out a red carpet welcome for their achievements and for bringing pride and honor to the city and the country as a whole.
Mayor Antonio "Ony" Ferrer and Ms. Baby Lyn Kempiz of City Mayor?s Office led City Government officials and employees in feting the chess player gold medallist Clark Jemuel Cabatian, gold medallist Relghie Columna,gold medallist Bonjoure Fille Suyamin, silver medallist Jirah floravie Cutiyog and silver medallist Geraldine Mae Camarines, among others during a courtesy call Tuesday afternoon.
The mayor expressed gratitude and appreciation to the athletes for their spectacular performance in the Thailand Pattaya Youth Chess Championship 2018 held in Pattaya, Thailand from October 20 to 24, 2018.
"Always thrive the pursuit to happiness, enjoy your youth and enjoy your sports discipline," said mayor Ferrer.
The gold, silver and medalists claimed P15,000, P10,000 and P5,000, respectively, while other members of the Ph squad from General Trias City, Cavite who is coach by Ederwin Estavillo got P3,000 each.
"The cash incentives were just a bonus but the presence of the mayor made the recognition special and memorable," said Ph coach Ederwin Estavillo, who is also the president of the General Trias City Chess Club.
Other membes of the team were Kaiza Libo-on, Carlyhne Mae Maneja, Adrian Klein Cantomayor, Dan Japhet Libo-on, Josh Edmar Castro, Earl Siegfrid Sta. Maria, Heart Florence Claros, Jeanelle Cabatian, Janmyl Dilan Tisado , Jireh Dan Jaime Cutiyog and Paolo Estavillo.-Marlon Bernardino-
