Filipino Abdulhamid Set to Rumble Aussie Camilleri for WBC Asian 147 Belt in Australia By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Wed, 17 Oct 2018 Gensan 147-pounder Adam Diu Abdulhamid is set to embark in one of the most important fights of his boxing career as he battles Autralian Joel Camilleri for the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council title, a rumble set for November 24 at Malvern Town Hall in nearby Melbourne, Australia. "This is a really good match-up," says fight promoter Peter Maniatis. "The main reason is that both, the Filipino Abdulhamid (13-6, 5 KO's) and Joel Camilleri (15-5-1, 7 KO's) are spirited, come-forward, exciting fighters who entertain fans. "In the case of the Filipino Abdulhamid, he is much better than what his record suggest. "In fact, Abdulhamid has already fought here in Australia. He battled Australian Qamil Balla (12-1-1, 5 KO's) over here, losing by points, but giving Balla a run for his money last March," added the very active man of boxing Maniatis, a member of Australia's Boxing Hall of Fame. After that Qamil Balla fight in Altona North, Australia, the 23 year-old Abdulhamid traveled to China to score a win by points over Chinese welterweight Youli Dong (12-1-1, 8 KO's), who was unbeaten at the time, to capture the WBO Asia Pacific Youth Welterweight Strap. "Those are reasons why fans here in Melbourne (Australia) really expect the Camillieri vs Adbulhamid to be a really good action duel. So, may the best man win and become WBC Asian Welterweight Champion." The supervisor for this WBC Asian title rumble will be experienced WBC ABCO executive Patrick Cusick. In the co-main event, Australians Terry Tzouramanis (20-4-3, 3 KO's) of Bentleigh, Victoria, and hard-puncher Victor Odindo (5-1, 5 KO's) of Angaston, South Australia by way of Kenya, will collide hard for the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental Super Lightweight Title. The boxing event Saturday November 24 at Malvern Town Hall Australia is a production of Melbourne promoters Peter Maniatis Events in association with UltraTune and Lynden Hosking's HP Promotions.
