PhilBoxing.com

Singapore - UFC?, the world's premier mixed martial arts organization, will see two of its biggest stars Lightweight Champion Khabibv 'The Eagle' Nurmagomedov (26-0-0), fighting out of Dagestan, Russia and former two-division UFC Champion and No. 1 contender 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor (21-3-0), fighting out of Dublin, Ireland do battle in the main event of UFC? 229: KHABIB vs. MCGREGOR, presented by Harley-Davidson, on Sunday, October 7 (Broadcast begins 9am Singapore local time) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

In a scheduled press conference held at the Park Theatre in Las Vegas this morning (local time), the unbeaten Champion Nurmagomedov and 'The Notorious' McGregor laid out their game plans for the most anticipated match-up in MMA history.
Nurmagomedov took his leave before McGregor made a belated arrival for the press conference which was helmed by UFC President, Dana White.

Here are some of the best quotes from the two athletes:
Nurmagomedov:

"My job, when I go to the cage, I have to control my emotional (emotions), stay relaxed, keep going and maul this guy (McGregor)."

"Weight cut is always hard. Thursday is my weight cut day. That's why I don't want to be waiting for someone 30 minutes, 40 minutes. 3.00pm press conference. After press conference, I have to go home and focus on my weight cut."

"For me this is more than defend(ing) my title, for me, it's more than fighting for the title, for me it's personal. Of course, this Is biggest fight in UFC history and we (are) going to break this record, (in terms of) numbers talking about this."

McGregor:

"He should have just stayed put. He doesn?t want to be around me. He doesn't want to be around these people. He is petrified."

"I'm here to fight this man Saturday night. He has to make weight. I want him making weight, I want him showing up on Saturday night, because he has pulled out of fights last minute."

"Once I hit him, he's going to turn weak. I expect panic in him early. But we have prepared for every outcome. I've experienced it all."

"I am a veteran. I'm going to go out here and do what I'm here for - to enjoy it. I am here to enjoy this because this is what I love. I'm going to come out fast on the bell, pressure him, and like I said, send that man's nose into the nosebleeds."

The co-main event will see No. 2 ranked Tony 'El Cucuy' Ferguson (25-3-0), fighting out of Orange County, California, United States, face off against No. 8 ranked Anthony 'Showtime' Pettis (21-7-0), fighting out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin United States.
