Asia's First GM Eugene Torre will hold a 20 boards simul chess in Gumaca, Quezon

ASIA'S First Grandmaster Eugene Torre will hold a twenty- board simultaneous chess exhibition to challenge Gumaca chess player's problem solving abilities, critical and strategic thinking with a theme "Welcome Back, 1975-2018" on October 27, 2018 at the Development Training Center in front of the Gumaca Convention Center in Gumaca, Quezon.
?We do this to promote chess in the grassroots level,? said tournament organizer Janglie V. Lita of Gumaca Chess Club.
"We also believe that by encouraging the youth to actively participate in sports like chess will keep them away from drugs," added Lita.
Lita recalled that the last time Torre made a simultaneous chess exhibition in Gumaca, Quezon was in 1975 that's why the theme in this event is Welcome Back, 1975 to 2018.
This tournament is sponsored by LGU Gumaca thru initiative of Mayor Erwin P. Caralian, Vice Mayor Elchor P. Caralian and Sanguniang Bayan of Gumaca. (Marlon Bernardino)
