TACONING DEFENDS WBC CROWN TONIGHT AT ELORDES PhilBoxing.com Sat, 22 Sep 2018  Reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) International Lightflyweight champion Jonathan Taconing will defend his crown against tough fighter and top contender Vince Paras tonight (Sept. 22 Friday) at the Flash Grandballroom of the Elorde Sports Center in Sucat Road, Paranaque City starting at 5:00 in the afternoon. Promoted by businessman/sportsman Johnny Elorde in cooperation with the Rotary Club of Manila Premier headed by President Yolly de Castro, this much awaited encounter will see Taconing rated no. 1 by the WBC and rated also by other world boxing bodies risking his world ranking against Paras who is all out to snatch the crown and the former?s ranking. Anytime soon, Taconing is expected to be the mandatory challenger of the winner of the fight between Ken Shiro of Japan and Milan Melindo of the Philippines scheduled on October 07 in Yokohama. Promoter and manager Elorde said that he has full trust in Taconing retaining the crown as he will be in the WBC Convention in Kyiv early October to lobby for Taconing?s mandatory defence which may happen in January, 2019. Equally supporting this main event are 8-round bouts pitting Marlon Paniamogan against Jerwin Mejes at 135 lbs. and crowd drawer Arvin Magramo facing Garren Diagan at 109 lbs. The remaining fights are as follows : Del Mar Pellio versus Raymond Basa 6rds. at 122 lbs., Nigerian Ochi Emmanuel versus Albert Ares 4 Rds. 147 lbs., Nathan Magtibas vs Jovani Navarrete 4 rds., 147 lbs., Albert Francisco vs Maico Fernandez 4 rds.,109 lbs and Christian Tulayao vs Reynante Gono 4 rds., 119 lbs.
