WBF Prez Mick Croucher Heads to Beijing China for Title Fights

PhilBoxing.com

The globetrotting boxing head of the World Boxing Foundation (WBF), Australian Mick Croucher heads to Beijing, China, on the 10th of October to supervise "Night of Champions," an international boxing extravaganza in China's Capital Beijing, the International headquarter of major Chinese boxing sponsors The People?s Quotai Group and the Remnin Boxing Group Beijing Sports.

Croucher heads to China as the World Boxing Foundation (WBF) has become the sponsor's preferred boxing sanctioning body for their boxing events throughout China.

Initially, fights were supposedly to be held in Xining City, in the Province of Qinghai Province in the legendary Tibetan Plateau. However, sponsors opted to transferred the exciting event to Beijing at a large complex owned by one of the sponsors, the Guotai Group.

Officials selected by the WBF to work on the two championship events are from the Philippines, Australia and China.

The referee will be Justin Kennedy from Sydney, Australia, who has officiated for the WBF in Fiji and NSW, Australia.

One of the judges is Arnie Najera from Cebu City in the Philippines, a judge of independence and integrity known for his outstanding record of scoring important fights. The two other judges will be local Chinese officials associated with the Beijing Boxing Association.

One of the WBF championship bouts being contested is the WBF International Light Heavyweight battle between tough Chinese Mingcun Chen battling Aussie Clint Alderton, a hard-puncher who trains at the famed Tony Salta Gym in Geelong, Victoria, Australia.

The other title fight is for the WBF Asia Pacific Welterweight Strap contested between promising Chinese fighter Ziqiang Huo and Gregory Bell, also from Geelong.

An up-and-coming Victorian boxer, Gregory Bell will certainly put the Chinese warrior under pressure with his relentless fighting style.

The WBF president Croucher said that it is a great pleasure for him to see Australian boxers having the opportunity to fight out on the world scene to gain valuable fighting experience to enhance their careers.

Croucher also shared that with Chinese promoters requesting good Australian talent, he looks forward to see more Aussie fighters getting the opportunity to fight in exciting new destinations including Mainland China, Hong Kong and others.
