PLANIA STOPS MERIN TO CLAIM WBC ASIA SILVER SUPERBANTAM BELT

It was an action-filled Sunday night as promised at the Polomolok Gym in South Cotabato as Sanman Promotions presented the Battle of Cotabato.
In the headliner, ?Magic? Mike Plania stopped Angelito Merin in the fourth round to claim the WBC Asia Silver Super Bantamweight Championship belt. Plania was tactical from the beginning and systematically broke down the defense of his opponent. In the fourth round, Plania saw the perfect opening releasing a good straight hook combination sending Merin to the canvass for good.
?Thank you Sanman Promotions for this break. It was a good test for me and I now feel ready to face anybody at 122 pounds?, Plania stated. According to Sanman Promoter Jim Mananquil, Plania showed maturity in the ring and is ready for bigger fights. His next fight can possibly be in the US against bigger names in the division.
In the co-featured bout, Dave Apolinario dominated fellow Filipino Michael Camelion in an eight-rounder action getting the nod of all judges and coming up with unanimous decision victory. His win gained him the WBC Asia Youth Flyweight Belt.
