Andrew Moloney, Tim Tszyu Stop Foes Saturday in Australia By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Sun, 09 Sep 2018 Moloney wins. Unbeaten Australians Andrew Moloney and Tim Tszyu scored impressive knock out wins over their respective opponents Saturday (Sep 8) at Bendigo Stadium in Victoria, Australia. Andrew "The Monster" Moloney (18-0, 11 KO's) earned the most important victory of his young fighting career as he outclassed and stopped former two-time world champion Luis "El Nica" Concepcion (37-8, 26 KO's) of Panama in the 10th chapter of their clash to retain for the fourth time his WBA Oceania SuperFly Title, a triumph that gets the tough "Monster" a step closer to a world title challenge. The world-ranked Moloney commanded actions throughout the battle, making good use of his slick boxing skills and accurate punching to pound on the 32 year-old Panamanian veteran who had no resources to counter the steady damaging pressure applied by the younger Australian. Finally in the tenth stanza the third man Ferlin Marsh of New Zealand had to halt actions to spare the brave Concepcion from unnecessary punishment. At the time of the stoppage Moloney was way ahead on points. In the co-main feature, Super Welterweight Tim Tszyu (11-0, 9 KO's), son of Russian boxing legend Kostya Tszyu, did not need to sweat much to ravage in the fast-and-furious first round his heavy-puncher opponent Marcos Jesus Cornejo (19-4, 18 KO's) of Argentina. "Tim Tszyu was devastating in his TKO win tonight, looking as powerful and sharp as his famous father Kostya Tszyu, landing big shots to outclass Cornejo in his ESPN debut," commented fight promoter Peter Maniatis. "I am sure that fans and ESPN will want to see more of Tim Tszyu in the near future," added Maniatis. The fights in Australia were aired live on ESPN plus in the USA and on Fox Sports in Australia.
