Weigh-in Report: Plania-Merin for WBC Asia Silver, Apolinario-Camelio for WBC Youth Sunday in Polomolok, South Cotabato (Photo) By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Sat, 08 Sep 2018 GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- Sanman Boxing Promotions stages another 12-bout international fighting event aimed at thrilling fight fans Sunday evening (Sep 9) in the Municipality of Polomolok here in South Cotabato, Philippines. In the main event, 21 year-old Mike "Magic" Plania (15-1, 8 KO's) of the Sanman Boxing Gym and tough Angelito Merin (9-8-3, 3 KO's) of Bukidnon made the limit of the super bantamweight division for their battle for the vacant WBC Asia Silver Belt; an 8-rounder that promises fireworks from the first bell (top photo). Camelion 109, Apolinario 110 for WBC Youth Flyweight. For the co-feature, unbeaten local fighter Dave "Doberman" Apolinario (7-0, 5 KO's) scaled-in at 110 pounds while the more experienced Michael Adrian Camelion (10-9-1, 8 KO) of Malaybalay City came one pound lighter as they get in fighting-mode for their war for the vacant WBC Asia Youth Flyweight Title; both southpaws looking in top physical shape for Sunday's clash. INTERNATIONAL COMBATS IN THE UNDERCARD In the main supporting bout, tough and strong Uzbekistan fighter Ulugbek Sobirov, 153 pounds, put his undefeated (7-0, 5 KO's) record in the line of fire against veteran Filipino battlefield warrior former titlist Dondon Sultan, 154, of the Cairo Sy Boxing Stable. Power and youth against experience and ring smarts. Who will prevail? Sultan 154, Sobirov 153 for 10 rounder non-title rumble. Ocampo 144, Akhmadjonov 144 for 8 rounder clash. In another international battle, unbeaten Jasur Akhmadjonov (6-0-1, 4 KO's) also from Uzbekistan, squares off Pinoy former WBO titlist Jose "The Bomber" Ocampo (20-10-1, 13 KO's) both warriors making identical weight of 144 pounds. A veteran, brave warrior now without manager, Ocampo attended the weigh-in ceremony together with his wife and their 2 year-old daughter as he aims to score a big win that could reinvigorate his boxing career. Ryan Maano 143 lbs, Bekzod Tursunboev 145 lbs for 6 rounder welterweight fight. Also from Uzbekistan, Bekzod Tursunboev made 145 lbs, while his more experienced Filipino foe Ryan Maano came-in at 143 pounds for their six-rounder close quarters combat. These three visiting Uzbek boxers Tursunboev, Sobirov and Akhmadjonov are managed by Malaysian boxing promotion company Vladimir Boxing and trained by Filipino coach Lixer Paingco. MORE SUNDAY ACTION IN POLOMOLOK In addition, local Gensan boy Jerven Mama (6-0-1, 4 KO's) of the Sanman Boxing Stable made 110 pounds for his 10-rounder against Nicono "The Destroyer" Calamba of Butuan, who stepped-in too heavy, for which he will have to wear 10-ounces gloves. Calamba 117, Jerven Mama 110 for 10 rounder war. Ernie Sanchez 138, Richard Betos 143 for 6 rounder in the lightweight division. Furthermore, Ernie Sanchez came-in at 138 pounds for his scheduled 6-round rumble against the heavier Richard Betos who scaled-in at 142 pounds. The contracted weight was at 135 lbs, both warriors showing up heavy. Still, their punching-contest is a GO, and could be one of the most entertaining combats of the evening. Flores 116, Ugbaniel 117 for 6-rounder clash. Plus, strong-looking Judy Flores of the Sanman Gym tipped the official GAB scale at 116 lbs, while 25 year-old Wiljan Ugbaniel made 117 pounds for their 6-chapter fighting affair. Lementillo 125, Carcosia Jr. 126 for 6 rounder featherweight rumble in Polomolok. In another war, featherweight Presco Carcosia Jr. made 126 lbs., for 125 pounds recorded by Fast-And-Furious Yoben Lementillo. Their battle is a six rounder that no fan in Polomolok can afford to miss. Jerry Ambon 118 lbs, Wendel Plania 110 lbs 4 rounder war. Moreover, Sanman boxer Wendel Plania made 110 at the GAB scale while opponent Elezer Ambon came-in too heavy at 118 lbs in his first try. Because of that, Ambon was required by GAB authorities to wear 10-ounces gloves. Jerry Ambrad 105 lbs, Regie Mananquil 105 lbs 4-chapter saga. Also, fast minimumweight warriors Regie Manangquil and his opponent Jerry Ambrad made the same weight of 105 pounds for their 4-stanza match-up. Will this battle made it to the last bell? Tresmonte 126 lbs Ernel Fontanilla 125 lbs. 4-stanza clash. First fight of the evening. In the first fight of the exciting evening, veteran Filipino Ernel Pontanilla (now living in California, USA) comes back to the ring after a 10 years absence to square off unheralded 4-rounder southpaw Jason Tresmonte of Sarangani. Pontanilla (8-3-2, 6 KO's) is taller than Tresmonte, a boxer who has been knocked out his only two fights. Fight supervisors for GAB are John Kenneth Improso and Datu Fahd Yasser A. Sinsuat. The GAB ringside doc is Dr. Carlos Clemente III. In attendance during the weigh-in ceremony were Filipino interim WBA World Champion Reymart Gaballo (19-0, 16 KO's) and former world champion Randy Petalcorin (29-2-1, 22 KO's). Gaballo will see action later this month in Manila in a Gerry Penalosa promotion, while Petalcorin will fight Nicaraguan knock out artist Felix Alvarado (33-2, 29 KO's) for the vacant IBF Jr. Flyweight World Title October 21 in Manila. The boxing event Sunday (September 9) in Polomolok is another production of young General Santos City promoter Jim Claude "JC" Manangquil Sanman Boxing Promotions.
