WIM Cristine Rose Mariano-Wagman finishes joint second in Sweden chessfest

FILIPINO Woman International Master (WIM) Cristine Rose Mariano-Wagman notched his third straight win and wound up joint second in the Pia Cramling's Ladies Open 30 minutes Rapid plus 10 seconds increment chess tournament last Sunday, September 2, 2018 held at the Scandic Foresta Hotel, Stockholm in Sweden.
The Umea, Sweden based Mariano-Wagman, a former head coach of Trinity University of Asia, emerged tied with Woman International Masters (WIMs) Jessica Bengtsson, Viktoria Johansson and Irina Tetenkina of Sweden with 5.5 points each.
Mariano-Wagman, a many-times National Womens Open champion and Chess Olympiad member, finished only third when the tie break was applied.
Mariano-Wagman is married to Jorgen Wagman, a logistic Manager at IKEA in Umea, Sweden.
Bengtsson, meantime took second place, Johannsson landed at 4th place and Tetenkina end up 5th place.
With her latest feat, Mariano-Wagman pocketed 3,000 Swedish Kronor (about P18,000) plus a finely crafted glass trophy and souvenir unique set of jewelry personally designed by WGM/GM Pia Ann Cramling.
International Master Inna Agrest of Sweden who inflicted the only lose of Mariano-Wagman in the fourth round was clear first place with six points in seven outings.
In the four Lady Invitational Open, International Master Elisabeth Paethz of Germany won the title with 4.5 points after six games of play.
Woman Grandmaster and Grandmaster Pia Ann Cramling of Sweden wound up second with 4 points followed by third placers Ketevan Arakhamia-Grant of Scotland and fourth placers Almira Skripchenko of France who got 2 points and 1.5 points, respectively. (Marlon Bernardino)
