Russian Contenders Salamov, Idigov and Davtaev See Action Tomorrow
PhilBoxing.com Wed, 05 Sep 2018
A trio of Russia-based contenders, Light Heavyweight Umar Salamov, super middleweight Aslambek ?The Hulk? Idigov and heavyweight Apti Davtaev are available for pre- or post-fight interviews via their co-promoter, Dmitriy Salita.
All three men will be back in action tomorrow, Wednesday, September 5, at the Grozny City Hotel in Grozny, and televised live in Russia on Match TV.
IBF #11- and WBO #15-rated Salamov (21-1, 16 KOs) will face Denis Liebau (23-2, 21 KOs) of Frankfurt Germany, for the WBO International Light Heavyweight Championship.
WBO #14-rated Idigov (13-0, 5 KOs) will take on former African champion Daniel Wanyonyi (27-12-2, 22 KOs) of Kenya in a 10-rounder.
And undefeated heavyweight Davtaev (15-0-1, 14 KOs) will face 6? 9? Moscow-based veteran Evgeny ?Molecule from Hell? Orlov in a 10-rounder.
24-year-old Salamov recently issued a public challenge to WBO Champ Eleider Alvarez and WBA ruler Dmitry Bivol. He was last seen in June, scoring a highlight reel ninth-round knockout over Brian Howard, live on Showtime. The impressive victory won him the vacant IBF North American Championship. In his young career, he has also already won the IBO Youth and World Light Heavyweight, WBO Youth World, European and International, and the IBF East/West Europe Light Heavyweight Championships.
Massively strong for the weight, 22-year-old Idigov was last seen winning an impressive unanimous 10-round decision over once-beaten Detroiter James Ballard. He won the IBO Youth Super Middleweight Championship in December 2016 with a unanimous decision over countryman Igor Selivanov.
The 6? 6? and 250-lb. Davtaev was last seen demolishing Kentucky?s Cory Phelps in two quick rounds. 29-year-old Davtaev (from the Chechen Republic of Kurchaloi) has only allowed two opponents to escape his pulverizing fists and see the final bell.
All three men are currently working with US trainers, Kronk Gym?s Javan SugarHill Steward and co-trainer Rick Phillips, at Detroit?s legendary Kronk Gym.
