THE 'NIETES-PALICTE MEET & GREET' WAS A ROUSING SUCCESS (WITH PHOTOS)

There were many Doubting Thomases when two unlikely partners decided to take it upon themselves to introduce two of the greatest Filipino Superflyweights to the Filipino community via a ?Meet and Greet? event, Donnie Nietes and Aston Palicte.

But young Jhay Otamias and his mentor, Dr. Ed de la Vega did not disappoint in spite of only having less than two weeks to put together an event many experienced spin makers take months and months to prepare.

With the support of many local Filipino businesses that provided support including food from two well-known Filipino restaurants in the greater LA area, they pulled it off.

And how!

Of course a great deal of the success was made possible with the help of the production people from Tom Loefllers? 360 Promotions and the media outlet of Bernie Bahrmasel and Ricardo Jimenez. The 360 people brought the huge backdrop to provide a semblance of reality to the event and on top of that they invited two gorgeous ?Tecate Girls? who graciously graced the event giving that ?Vegas feeling? to the event.

The fans had a great time taking photos with the two young ladies as well as with the boxers.

The program was opened by Dr Ed de la Vega and eventually he passed the hosting job to Cynthia Conte, a Filipina American journalist who is now with the 360 Promotions.

The biggest surprise of the day was the presence of many non-Filipino journalists from the print, internet and television that came to witness and record the event for their news outlets. Their presence turned the ?meet and greet? into a full blast presscon as they dominated the ?question and answer part of the event?.

Not to be outdone, the Pinoy media people came out in droves lugging with them huge tripods to support their equally large video cameras.

Needles to say, Cynthia Conte made the event super. Her style of hosting was amazing and it kept the program flowing smoothly from the minute she took hold of the microphone until the program ended.

Tom Loefller, the President of 360 Promotions was so appreciative and impressed of the efforts of De La Vega and Otamias that he expressed his desire to see the duo create another event when the winner of the Nietes Palicte fight defend his title early next year.

With Tecate girls, L-R: Dr Ed de la Vega, Donnie Nietes, Tom Loefller, Aston Palicte and Jhay Otamias.

To commemorate the event, De La Vega and Otamias donated a framed photo of the boxers to add to the first one they donated when they did the Ancajas-Sultan presscon at the Filipino Cultural Center last May 2018.

Signed gloves and posters were raffled off to the crowd and the proceeds went to a charity that does humanitarian dental services in the Philippines, Dentistry For Every Village Foundation.
