Golden Boy Wants Hatton Next at Dodger Stadium
By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Sun, 11 Nov 2007

Los Angeles, CA -- Reports indicate that the Golden Boy, Oscar de la Hoya is looking ahead next summer to fight again.
De la Hoya wants to hold his next fight at a site located in the heart of Los Angeles, at Chavez Ravine, the home of the Los Angeles Dodgers professional baseball team. The stadium has an official capacity of 56,000 and an estimated 16,000 parking spaces, enough to accommodate his legions of fans.
Although nothing concrete is in the books, May 3, 2008 seem to be an appropriate date as the Dodgers are out of town playing baseball at Denver, Colorado against the Colorado Rockies.
Dodger officials indicated that nothing has been proposed to them yet, but they also mentioned that they will be more than willing to accommodate De la Hoya if he elects to fight at their ballpark. ?Its an interesting possibility? Dodger official Camille Johnston, reportedly said.
De la Hoya is said to be eyeing a bout with British slugger, Ricky Hatton particularly if the Brit does well against Floyd Mayweather on December 8th in Las Vegas.
The only boxing card that was held at the Dodger Stadium was in March 21, 1963. That day was aptly described by the Los Angels Times? Lance Pugmire as ?a dark day in boxing?.
Featherweight champ Davey Moore fell backwards during a fight and hit the back of his neck on the bottom rope which resulted in a brain injury and his untimely death later.
The accident resulted in more safety improvements in the fight business, notably the addition of a fourth strand of rope and more rope padding.
