By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Sun, 20 May 2018

Australian boxing rising-star twin-brothers Andrew and Jason Moloney retained their WBA Oceania Titles in their respective battles at Malvern Town Hall Saturday (May 19) in Melbourne, Australia.
First, Andrew "The Monster" Moloney (17-0, 10 KO's) outclassed Filipino Richard Claveras (18-4-2, 15 KO's) during 10 rounds to score a unanimous decision win by wide margins to defend for a third time his WBA Oceania Super Flyweight (115 lbs) Title. Scorecards were 99-91 and 98-91 (twice).
Then in the main event brother Jason Moloney (17-0, 14 KO's) was much more dramatic at defeating Japanese former world champion Kohei Kono by RTD stoppage at the end of the in sixth round.
The battle concluded when the 37 year-old Kono (33-12-1, 14 KO's) was unable to keep on fighting because of a dangerously-placed cut over his eye. With the decisive triumph, the 27 year-old Jason Moloney keeps his WBA Oceania 118-lbs. belt and positions himself as an important contender in the bantamweight division.
Both Moloney brothers are ranked by all four major boxing organizations.
The fight card Saturday in Melbourne was production of Lynden Hosking Promotions in association with Peter Maniatis Events.
