VALDEZ RETAINS WBO BELT BY UNANIMOUS DECISION VERDICT OVER QUIGG

Mexican star Oscar Valdez continued his undefeated run as he retained his WBO world featherweight title by defeating the overweight Scott Quigg of the United Kingdom at the StubHub Center in Carson, California Saturday night.
Judges Max DeLuca, Larry Hazzard Jr and Terry O'Connor gave wide margins in Valdez's favor with scores of 117-111, 117-111 and 118-110 although the fight itself appeared to be a lot closer.
Valdez now upped his record to 24 wins with 19 knockouts while Quigg, whose objective to make a big impact in the US went down the drain, dropped to 34-2-2 with 25 KOS.
