Quigg Seeks to Become Two-Weight World Champion When He Challenges Oscar Valdez For the WBO Featherweight Title March 10 at StubHub Center and Televised LIVE by ESPN and ESPN DEPORTES

LOS ANGELES (March 2, 2018) ? Scott Quigg and his trainer, Freddie Roach, met the media Friday afternoon at Wild Card Boxing Club, as Quigg seeks to win a world title in a second weight class.

Quigg, from Bury, England, will challenge World Boxing Organization (WBO) Featherweight champion Oscar Valdez on Saturday, March 10, at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. The former World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Bantamweight champion, Quigg will be making his U.S. debut.

Promoted by Top Rank, in association with Matchroom Boxing, remaining tickets for the Valdez vs. Quigg world championship event are priced at $206, $104, $53 and 27.50, including facility fees, and can be purchased online at AXS.com, by phone at (888) 9AXS-TIX, or by visiting the StubHub Center box office.

The Valdez vs. Quigg world championship event will be televised live and exclusively at 10:30 p.m. EST on ESPN and ESPN Deportes and streaming live on the ESPN App.

This is what Quigg and Roach had to say.

Scott Quigg

?When I?m in camp, I?m so disciplined. Whether I was back home or 7,000 miles away in California, all I do is eat, sleep and train.?

?I respect all fighters. I respect Oscar as a fighter. I respect his trainer {Manny Robles}. This is a voluntary defense. They didn?t have to pick me, so it shows that they want to fight the best. But, they definitely made a mistake picking me.?

?I appreciate all the support I get back home. It?s unbelievable when I fight at the Manchester Arena and have all of my fans supporting me. But, when you?re in that ring, it?s one-on-one. Whether all the fans are cheering for him or all the fans are cheering for me, at the end of the day, what has to be done is what?s in the ring.?

?I look forward to coming out and everybody booing. They can boo me in, but they?ll definitely be cheering when I leave the ring.?

Freddie Roach (Trainer, Scott Quigg)

"Oscar Valdez is a good young fighter, but I think Quigg is better.?

"This is a perfect stepping stone for Scott to get a rematch with Carl Frampton and become world champion once again. Carl got lucky and broke Scott?s jaw in the first round. That won?t happen again. But right now, we?re not concerned with Frampton. We?re focusing on beating Oscar.?

"Scott is one of the best conditioned fighters I have worked with, and it?s great working with fighters like him and Pacquiao.?

?Oscar says he?ll knock Scott out. I hope he believes that because if he comes forward and tries to knock Scott out, then Scott is going to put him on his ass.?
