NBA -- Embiid shines with 32 as Sixers edge Clippers, 109-105

MANILA, Philippines ? The Philadelphia 76ers snapped a two-game skid by beating the struggling Los Angeles Clippers, 109-105, on Monday night at Staples Center.
Joel Embiid led the way for Philadelphia with 32 points on 11 for 20 field goal shooting. Embiid also finished with 16 rebounds, 2 assists and a blocked shot.
Wingman Robert Covington contributed 31 points, 6 boards, 4 dimes, and 4 steals. Rookie Ben Simmons added 22 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists as Philadelphia improved to 7-6
The 76ers were still without 2017 top overall rookie draft pick Markelle Fultz, Jerry Bayless, and Nik Stauskas due to injuries, while Jahlil Okafor was also out due to a respiratory infection.
Blake Griffin led the Clippers with 29 points, including 16 in the second quarter. DeAndre Jordan, however, struggled with just two points in 30 minutes of play. Reserve guard Lou Williams came off the bench with 31 points.
Clippers starters Milos Teodosic, Patrick Beverly, and Danilo Gallinari were inactive due to injuries. The Clippers dropped to 5-8.
