MAGSAYO HEADLINES PINOY PRIDE 41 AT IEC PAVILLON IN CEBU

PhilBoxing.com

Mark 'Magnifico' Magsayo, the child boxing prodigy whom patriarch Antonio L. Aldeguer of the famed ALA Boxing Gym described as "the best boxer he has seen to come out in his stable in 40 years" will finally have his date with the limelight when he headlines 'Pinoy Pride 41' on July 8 at the IEC Pavillon in Cebu City.

Magsayo's opponent has yet to be named.

"Right after the Nietes-Nantapech IBF world championship last April, ALA Promotions President/CEO Michael Aldeguer revealed that the undefeated Magsayo will headline the next Pinoy Pride," ALA Promotions informed PhilBoxing in an e-mail.

Magsayo (16-0-0, 12KOs) who will turn 22 next week, was a bemedalled amateur who won 8 national titles and was twice named best boxer of the year. He started training at the ALA Gym at age 8. The ALA Gym was the original training ground of Filipino world champions Gerry Pe?alosa, Malcolm Tu?acao, Noel Tu?acao, Rodel Mayol and of course the Philippines' longest reigning world champion Donnie Nietes and IBF Interim world junior flyweight champion Milan Melindo who will take on regular world champion Akira Yaegashi of Japan this Sunday in Tokyo.

Magsayo's most impressive outing so far was his win against former world title challenger Chris Avalos of California on April 23, 2016 in Cebu where he stopped Avalos in the 6th round after he himself was floored by Avalos in the 3rd round. Last month, Magsayo stopped visiting Tanzanian Issa Nampepeche at 1 minute 10 seconds of the first round at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu. Magsayo currently holds the WBO International featherweight title.

The venue of Pinoy Pride 41 will be the newly constructed 10,000 seating capacity IEC Pavillon in Mabolo. The Pavillon was originally constructed to house the 2016 International Eucharistic Congress where thousands of delegates from all over the world in attendance.

?We want to explore more venues for our boxing shows here in Cebu... We are glad IEC has opened its doors to different types of events. With the Convention Center?s amenities, our live audience is guaranteed to enjoy the show comfortably,? ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer said in an e-mail.

Rising super bantamweight and knockout artist Jeo 'Santino' Santisima will also make a big leap when he co-headline the event. His opponent is also not yet known.
