NBA - - Dunn, Jones help Wolves handle Nuggets By Daniel Quindao Guden PhilBoxing.com Tue, 24 Jan 2017 ![]() MINNEAPOLIS - Reserve point guards Kris Dunn and Tyus Jones s tarred as the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Denver Nuggets, 111-108 at the Target Center. Dunn, 5th overall pick this season out of Providence College started at point guard in lieu of Ricky Rubio, who went home (Spain) to attend the funeral of his grandmother. Timberwolves behemoth and reigning Rookie of the Year Karl Anthony Towns paced the Wolves with 32 points on top of 12 boards, 7 dimes, 4 blocks and a steal. Andrew Wiggins complemented Towns with 24 points while Shabazz Muhammad added 20 off the bench. Dunn collected 10 points with 9 assists and 8 rebounds. Jones finished with 9 points and 4 dimes. Gary Harris led the Nuggets with 22 points, center Nikola Jokic had 18 points and 8 rebounds. Wilson Chandler and Jamal Murray tallied 17 points each while Danilo Gallinari had 14 points Dunn displayed his sweet shooting skills with 2 3-pointer at the start of the opening frame but Jokic, Gary Harris and Gallinari fought back and lead the Nuggets 29-28 at the end of the first quarter. It was a competitive second quarter where n the 2nd quarter the Wolves managed to take the front seat, 62-58. The third period at 84-all. Towns long jumper followed by three free throws each of Jones, Wiggins and Dunn sealed the game 111-108. "He's playing out of his mind right now, He's doing it all, rebounding, scoring, defending, everything. There's nothing he's not doing right now" Wiggins said after the game of Towns. Overtime The Timberwolves will travel to Phoenix to play against the Suns on Tuesday night (Wednesday morning Cebu time). While the Nuggets heads home to host the Utah Jazz on the same night.
