NBA - - Wiggins stars anew, Wolves rip Bucks, 116-99 By Daniel Quindao Guden PhilBoxing.com Mon, 02 Jan 2017 MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Timberwolves bested their midwest neighbors, the Milwaukee Bucks, 116-99, on Friday night at the Target Center. Andrew Wiggins, the son of former PBA import Mitchell Wiggins, led the way with 31 points, including a highlight dunk over Miles Plumlee that helped seal the deal in the final 2:30 of play. Wiggins' dad played for Tondena 65 Rhummasters (now Ginebra Gin Kings) of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) in 1994. The Timberwolves played with poise and aggression all throughout, leading by 13 in the opening quarter and nursing a 14-point bubble late in the third quarter. Karl Anthony Towns submitted 18 points and 16 boards for Minnesota while Zach LaVine added 24. Shabazz Muhammad hit 22 off the bench. "We want to show that we're the better team with the better young players, but you've got to respect your opponent at all times. They have great players like we do, but at the end of the day I'm glad we came out with the win" LaVine, said after the game. Giannis "The Greek Freak" Antetokounmpo had 25 points, 7 boards and 5 assists to lead the Bucks. Jabari Parker got 20 points with 6 rebounds, Michael Beasley, former Wolves player had 12 points off the bench while rookie Malcolm Brogdon who started as point guard in lieu of injured Matthew Dellavedova had 11 points "I'd rather lose to the Bulls than to this team, It's not against them, but we've got to win these games. We got to if we want to be good we've got to win these games" Parker told reporters after the game. NOTES. There were 17, 779 fans were in attendance at the Target Center and several wore Bucks jerseys. The Minnesota Timberwolves (11-22) stay at home to host the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday.
