ALLANIC FACES FIREBRAND KOREAN ON SEP. 30 PhilBoxing.com Fri, 07 Sep 2007 ![]() The first clash between the Philippines and South Korea comes before the boxing crowd on September 30 (Sunday) at the Cebu Waterfront Hotel & Casino in Lahug. ALA Gym ward and reigning WBO Asia Pacific champion Robert Allanic will defend, for the first time, his crown against firebrand In-Sok Song of Siheung City, South Korea, after he snatched the vacant crown from another South Korean contender Chang Jae Kwon, in South Korea in May, through a technical knockout in round 7. Born in the distant town of southern Cebu, fast-rising Allanic (17-3-0, 8KOs) started his career on May 22, 2004 when he defeated Conrad Gonda in Mandaue City. He followed it up with three straight wins by knockout on the same year. A fast-fisted fighter, he has the staying power to go the distance against his opponent in the ring; thus, his decision wins at 9 out of 17. Through sheer determination and willpower, he came to develop some serious power in his punch, winning the 3 of his last 5 fights by way of technical knockout. In-Suk Song (8-2-0, 3) is a deadly puncher himself, taking his last 5 wins by way of knockout in the 3rd round. He started his career in 2004 when he out-pointed fellow Korean Ki Wook Lee. At 5’ 7-1/2” and taller than Allanic, his reach could make his blows more menacing and dangerous. In his round 3 knockouts, Song, 5 years older than Allanic, dropped his rivals to the canvas for good within two minutes in the round. Meanwhile, AJ “Bazooka” Banal welcomes a formidable threat in Genaro Camargo of Mexico in the main card over the WBO youth super flyweight title. Donnie Nietes top bills the event fight against Pornsawan Kratingdaeggym of Thailand for the vacant WBO minimum weight crown. ![]() |
