VALCARCEL REELECTED PRESIDENT OF WBO
By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Wed, 19 Oct 2016

SAN JUAN ? WBO president Francisco 'Paco' Valcarcel together with WBO officials holding the top positions were all reelected during Tuesday's elections during the 29th convention of the premier world boxing body here. Also reelected to their positions were first vice-president John Duggan; second vice-president Jacinth Bryan Labega; 4th vice-president Rolando Marcos-Hermoso; treasurer Adolfo Flores and ratings committee chairman and international commissioner Luis Perez. Gino Rodriguez was elected 3rd vice-president replacing Rudy Paz who is ill.
Championship committee chairman Luis Batista-Salas presided the elections where representatives from more than 45 countries who attended the convention cast their votes, a procedure that took most of the morning session of the first day of the convention.
One of the first resolutions taken up by the executive committee after the elections was to authorize the committee for a possible relocation of the organization's headquarters to Florida after the WBO lost its tax-exempt status in Puerto Rico, a situation which the WBO legal team is still contesting in Puerto Rican courts. The WBO has its headquarter in Puerto Rico since its founding in 1988 and is recognized by the US federal government as a non-profit tax-exempt organization.
