DONNIE NIETES SIGNS LIMITED EDITION PHOTOS FOR DENTISTRY FOR EVERY VILLAGE FOUNDATION FUND RAISER

PhilBoxing.com

Los Angeles, CA: It was just a passing idea, just like wishful thinking, if you may. But it suddenly became a reality when former WBO Light Flyweight Champion Donnie Nietes of Murcia, Negros Occidental found the idea great and readily volunteered to help.

PhilBoxing photographer, Jhay Otamias first thought of a fund raising idea to help the Dentistry For Every Village Foundation raise funds to finance a free dental clinic the foundation is building for the Ati People in Capiz. He first spoke of asking help from Manny Pacquiao?s personal friend, Jun Aquino who did lots of the paintings that now hang at places Pacquiao owns. But that didn?t fan out for some reason or another.

So when Otamias found out that the ALA Promotions International and ABS-CBN are again putting up a fight card at the StubHub in Carson, California starring Donnie Nietes in his first fight as a flyweight, he revived the idea.

Today at the Press Conference to officially announce the Nietes-Sosa fight held at the Max?s Restaurant in Glendale, CA., Otamias went to work to start the fundraiser.

Otamias had one of a kind photo of Nietes in action printed and brought them to the presscon. Then he explained to Nietes what he wanted to do. He wanted Nietes to sign the photos and Otamias will sell them to the fans with the proceeds going to the Dentistry For Every Village Foundation.

It didn?t take a millisecond for Nietes to agree because he knew that it was for a great cause. He signed all the photos and the first guy to come up and buy one was a fan named Tony Garcia. As a bonus, Garcia got to pose with the world champion with his autographed photo proudly displayed.

PhilBoxing?s Dr. Ed de la Vega, of Canoga Park, California, founded Dentistry For Every Village Foundation. It is a registered tax-free corporation (501 (c) 3 with the State of California and the Internal Revenue Service. All donations made to the Foundation are tax deductible.

The Foundation?s mission is to increase the access to dental care of underserved Filipinos. It addresses this issue by collecting donations and grants to build dental offices and endorsing them to responsible entities who can manage them and help provide free dental care to those truly in need but have no resources to pay for the service. The latest project of the Foundation was opened in April 2016 at Barangay Cababto-an in Pambujan, Northern Samar.

The Nietes-Sosa thriller will be held at the Stub Hub Center on September 24th. In the supporting main event, fans will see fast raising Filipino fighter Mark ?Magnifico? Magsayo go head to head against a crafty Mexican named Ruben Garcia. Also fighting in the same card is Athur ?King? Villanueva who has some unfinished business with Juan Jimenez, also of Mexico.

Tickets for the fight are expected to go really fast, particularly those in the choice seats. Southern California fans are encouraged to get theirs as soon as they are released in a week.
