SALITA CONGRATULATES MILLER AND EYUBOV FOR SHOWTIME VICTORIES

PhilBoxing.com

'BOTH MEN PASSED THEIR TESTS.'

Now that the dust has settled, promoter Dmitriy Salita wishes to thank everyone involved in the outstanding ShoBox: The New Generation quadrupleheader he and Greg Cohen Promotions put on last Friday at Rhinos Stadium in Rochester, New York.

Two of Salita's top fighters were victorious that night, including hard-punching Brooklynite heavyweight Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller and junior welterweight assassin Bakhtiyar Eyubov.

Miller (18-0-1, 16 KOs) retired the normally durable Fred Kassi on his stool between the third and fourth rounds, citing a hand injury. Meanwhile, the also undefeated Eyubov of Brooklyn via Kazakhstan passed a strong test by going past the third round for the first time in his career to win a close 10-round split decision over skilled veteran Karim Mayfield of San Francisco. The scores were 95-94 twice for Eyubov and 95-94 for Mayfield.

"Jarrell Miller talked the talk and walked the walk, which very few boxers and athletes can do," said Salita. "I am very impressed with the maturity and ring IQ Jarrell showed in the Kassi fight. He fought a very smart and used all his strengths to his advantage."

Salita says that Miller isn't far from fighting for the heavyweight title he's been screaming for since the beginning of his career. "I feel Jarrell is the best heavyweight prospect in the world and am very happy that the boxing world is seeing and hearing what he can bring to the division. Jarell has come a long way in the few years and is a fight or two away from fighting for the heavyweight title. He has graduated as a fighter to the next level and I congratulate him for a great performance and the hard work he put in to get this level. I feel he has the skills to be the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world from Brooklyn, NY."

Regarding Eyubov (now 11-0, 10 KOs), Salita says he's happy with the slugger's performance, even if his impressive KO streak came to an end against Mayfield.

"Bakha I felt did a sensational job in his performance against Karim Mayfield. Less than a year ago, Mayfield was in the running to fight Floyd Mayweather, one of the best of all time. Bakhtiyar in only his 11th fight, and first scheduled 10 rounder, showed the heart, desire, strength and skill to step up and overcome this very significant challenge in early stages of his pro career. I was very impressed with the pace and intensity that Bakha showed especially in the second half of the fight. Bakhtiyar is one of the best junior welterweights in the world and I feel he will bring much excitement to the division."

Salita wishes to thank his promotional partner on the show, Greg Cohen, and his team for their assistance, as well as the Showtime crew and the people at Rhinos Stadium.

"I also want to congratulate all my fighters on the show for their performances and I hope the people of Rochester enjoyed their night of world-class boxing. It was an honor to bring it them."
