SAMUTSAKHON, Thailand ? Defending WBO bantamweight champion Pungluang Sor Singyu of Thailand weighed in at 117.8 lbs while Filipino challenger Marlon Tapales stepped the scales also at 117.8 lbs during the official weighin at the ultra-modern Vichaivej International Hospital Omnoi here Tuesday afternoon as both fighters made weight for Wednesday's world championship fight to be held at the historic city of Ayutthaya, about 75 kilometers north of Bangkok.

Both Pungluang Sor Singyu and Marlon Tapales arrived at the weighin venue, which is located about 35 kilometers from the heart of Bangkok, about two and a half hours earlier to the 3:00 p.m. weighin time and both fighters checked their weights on the official scale. Sor Singyu was half a pound over while Tapales came a pound over. Sor Singyu got his weight after an hour of workout while Tapales was having a hard time even after more than a hour of soaking himself in a sauna bath. Taapales's trainer had him finally ran under the heat of sun outside the hospital. Both Pungluang and Tapales weighed in naked to make the weight on the first try.

Tapales and his team have spent hours on the road caught in Bangkok traffic as they went to today's weighin venue and yesterday's appointment with the Thai media held at the Magma Muay Thai Gym located about 40 kilometers by car travel in Phatum Tani. The team will again travel for about two hours to the fight venue in Ayutthaya tomorrow which is 85 kilometers from Bangkok. Too much traveling on the road have put a strain to the team but Tapales himself said he was not affected by it as he was used to so much traveling by now.

The weighin was supervised by WBO Vice-President for Asia-Pacific Leon Panoncillo Jr with WBO officials officiating the bout also present.
