IDOL 2 features Jeo ?Santino? Santisima

PhilBoxing.com

ALA Gym?s Jeo ?Santino? Santisima from Masbate will headline IDOL 2 on July 16, 2016 at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex. Together with four other stable mates at the show?s press launching Thursday, Santisima looked eager as he was presented to the media for his upcoming fight.

With 9 KO wins out of the 10 he has in record, the young prospect is a budding knock out artist. He came to the media and Boxing fans? attention when he knocked out experienced and hard-hitting slugger Marco Demecillo of Iligan City February of this year in Pinoy Pride 35: Stars of the Future. Santisima proved he was rightfully considered one of Philippines? Boxing futures, turning the fight around despite the 2nd round setback when Demecillo knocked him down to the canvas. Successfully winning the match by a sixth round TKO, the bout was undoubtedly the highlight of the night.

Santino started boxing at the age of 16. He shared his father wanted him and his brothers to box, teaching them early when they were growing up. He came to ALA Gym, joining his elder brother Aldrin where they trained and fought as amateurs. Aldrin later left, but the younger Santisama stayed, eventually turning pro last 2013. He has sparred with Albert Pagara and Mark Magsayo among others in his division and with his idol, Nonito Donaire, when Donaire trained in Cebu for his fight against Anthony Settoul. Santisima attributes the development of his boxing skills to ALA Gym, where he says fighters are forced to improve, sparring with pros bigger and better than them.

Fast-forward to yesterday?s IDOL 2 launching, Santisima recalled losing his first professional fight in Escalante City, the same program?s pilot event, just when he decided he was ready to step up from the amateur level. When asked about how he feels this time being the main man, he timidly started off saying how grateful he was, and then in a more confident tone added, ?I won?t waste this chance because I definitely don?t want my career to end.?
