ALA Promotions announces IDOL 2 PhilBoxing.com Thu, 09 Jun 2016 ![]() Launched back in 2013 with the pilot event in Escalante City, the IDOL Boxing series will continue to showcase promising Filipino pro fighters on national TV. The second edition of the program was officially announced last Tuesday during its Press Launching at the St. Mark Hotel, Cebu City. ALA Promotions General Manager Jeana Alvarez told the media present that the event would take place at Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex on July 16th. Alvarez added that the next schedules are to be on October 1st and December 3rd of this year. ?The IDOL Boxing Series will have six (6) LIVE shows a year, and will be shown on Abs-cbn Sports + Action via delayed telecast. The series aims to sustain the sport of Boxing in the Philippines, in support to the internationally growing Pinoy Pride. Successful main event IDOL fighters will eventually move up to the bigger shows, while the program continues to showcase newer talents as it goes on.? When asked about the fighters featured in the series, Matchmaker Edito Villamor explained that the program is not exclusive to promising fighters from the ALA Boxing Gym. This means that although ALA prospects KJ Cataraja (4(3KOs)-0-0), Jeo Santisima (10 (9KOs)-2-0), Melvin Jerusalem (9 (7KOs)-0-0), WBO Oriental Super Bantamweight Champion Jimmy Paypa, and Philippines Superfly champion Jonas Sultan were presented as the new faces of the show, fans should expect to see fighters from different stables all over the Philippines. Villamor, when asked if he had been communicating with other matchmakers, also confirmed this. ?We know there are other young prospects out there, that?s why we?ve already approached local matchmakers, managers, and stables all over the country.? According to PR Manager Chelna Locaylocay, IDOL, which is based in Cebu, will initially hold the 2016 schedules in Cebu?s Boxing hotbed Mandaue City, but will be expanding to other major cities from Luzon to Mindanao by next year. Operations Manager Leilani Perpetua, who was also present, disclosed the ticket prices for the event starting at VIP Php 500.00, Ringside at Php 200.00, Lower Seats at Php 100.00, and Php 20.00 for the General Admission.
