PhilBoxing.com

LOS ANGELES (May 16, 2016) - Golden Boy Promotions is at it again with its commitment to bring the most exciting fights to its fans with this new addition of top talent undercard fights set for Eddie Gomez vs. John Karl Sosa on Friday, May 20 at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif.

Broadcast live on Estrella TV and streaming live simultaneously on Ring TV, estrellaTV.com and on YouTube via Fenomeno Studios, the night will feature the main event presenting pride of the Bronx Eddie "E-Boy" Gomez (18-1, 11 KOs) as he gets one step closer to taking home a 2016 world title when he takes on Puerto Rican standout John Karl Sosa (13-1, 6 KOs) on Friday, May 20 in a scheduled 10-round welterweight fight.

Making this night even more special, boxing legend and former undisputed world heavyweight champion Riddick "Big Daddy" Bowe will be in attendance for this night of fights. "Big Daddy" will also be on hand to meet fans, sign autographs and take pictures from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. inside the Fantasy Springs Special Events Center on May 20th. The meet-and-greet is open to the public with the purchase of a ticket to the event.

Snatching a spot on the televised card will be skilled southpaw fighter Fidel "The Atrisco Kid" Maldonado Jr. (21-3, 18 KOs) of Albuquerque, N.M. looking to defeat Glendale, Calif.'s Art "Lionheart" Hovhannisyan (17-2-2, 9 KOs) in the 10-round lightweight televised co-main event. Hoping to make TV time, local undefeated prospect, Jesus Sanchez (1-0, 1 KOs) of Indio, Calif. will face fellow undefeated Livan "Machine Gun" Navarro (2-0) of Havana, Cuba in a four-round welterweight swing bout.

Rounding out the non-televised undercard, streamed live on Ring TV, D'Mitirus Ballard (12-0, 8 KOs) of Washington, D.C. will put his undefeated record on the line in a scheduled eight-round super middleweight fight against Tijuana, Mexico's Victor "Sina" Fonseca (9-7-1, 7 KOs); and Riverside, Calif.'s Joseph "Diamante" Aguirre (12-0, 8 KOs) will participate in a six-round lightweight bout facing Rony Alvarado (9-7, 5 KOs)of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Kicking off this fight night will be Alexis "Laberinto" Salazar of Tlaquepaque, Mexico in the super welterweight division going six rounds against a soon to be named opponent.

Undefeated Washington, D.C. prospect D'Mitirus Ballard will be returning to California for the second time in his career and will look to impress in his super middleweight fight at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. A professional since 2013, the 23 year-old fighter has executed every opponent he has faced utilizing his powerful punches and heavy hits most recently facing Fabiano "Pitbull" Pena in December 2015 and Leosvy Mayedo in March 2016. With a 62 percent knockout rate, Ballard will look to add another knockout victory to his record.

Victor Fonseca will be making his second appearance on Boxeo Estelar when he fights at Fantasy Springs for the first time on May 20. Having faced the likes of up and coming fighters Antonio Gutierrez and Domonique Dolton, Fonseca is ready to show his opponent what he's made of when he vows to make his mark in eight rounds of middleweight madness.

Having dominated in the ring in his professional debut at Fantasy Springs this February, Jesus Sanchez can't wait to get back in the action. In his scheduled four round welterweight fight, Sanchez is confident he will stop opponent Livan Navarro by way of knockout early on in the bout, similarly to how he took out recent opponent Gibran Gutierrez.

Miami, FL's Livan "Machine Gun Kid" Navarro, who is new to the fight game, has had success so far as a professional with two victories over Farkhad Sharipov and Kevin Walker in unanimous decisions. By kicking off the round of fights, "Machine Gun Kid" is anxious to fire punches to attain the first knockout of his career.

Joseph "Diamante" Aguirre of Riverside, CA has defeated every opponent he has ever faced and hopes to add his upcoming opponent to his list of victories as he fights for the first time in the U.S. With a recent victory against Oscar Arjona via first round knockout in March of 2016, Aguirre has stayed busy fighting twice in 2015 and five times in 2014. This young knockout artist has a promising boxing career ahead of him and the boxing community can't wait to see what he will bring in the ring on this card.

Rony Alvarado might just have met his toughest competition yet as he goes up against undefeated Joseph Aguirre in a 6-round lightweight faceoff. The Ciudad Juarez fighter will be coming in with a vengeance as he makes his first fighting appearance at Fantasy Springs Resort and Casino on May 20.

Super welterweight all-star Alexis Salazar has been high on a knockout streak after taking down fellow fighters Victor Marquez and Michel Rosales. This Mexican fighter will be making his first fighting debut on American soil when he faces a soon to be named opponent at Fantasy Springs this May 20 in the opening bout of this thrilling night of fights.

Tickets for the event are on sale now and are priced at $45, $35, and $25. They can be purchased at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, by calling (800) 827-2946 or online at www.fantasyspringsresort.com.
