ARSENAL LADIES ACHIEVE WHAT MALE COUNTERPARTS HAVEN?T BEEN ABLE TO DO By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Sun, 15 May 2016  The Arsenal ladies team which won a record 14th Women?s FA Cup trophy has achieved what their male counterparts have failed to deliver in the past several years, losing their FA Cup title defense in the semi finals to Watford and collapsing in the crucial stages of the Premier League to be able to only salvage a Champions League spot. BBC Sport reported that Danielle Carter's goal delivered a record 14th Women's FA Cup trophy for Arsenal as they dominated holders Chelsea at Wembley Stadium. The BBC said Arsenal's greater mobility, movement in midfield and high-pressing was key to their fast start. The high-tempo approach set the tone for Arsenal's impressive display and the margin of victory - against a Blues side who had won all seven of their matches so far this season - should have been greater. Carter's sensational first-half strike was a fitting way to win an intriguing final in front of a record crowd. Some nimble footwork saw her cut inside Hannah Blundell and send a glorious strike curling into the far post. Arsenal?s men?s squad manager Arsene Wenger whose side started the season in fine form but faded in the later stages has said ?Defeat still hurt. In fact hurt worse than ever,? giving the impression that this particularly testing season which promised so much but has delivered no silverware has taken a heavy toll on Wenger, his players and the club?s fans.
