COUNTER PUNCH REPORT: ASIS VS LAW PhilBoxing.com Mon, 09 May 2016 ![]() FIGHT STYLE Two men with fast hands, fast feet and good eyes. This will be a fast fight with both men to move and box but also equally happy to exchange. KEYS TO VICTORY WAYLON LAW - Dictate and take Jack Asis out of his rhythm. Asis can be a slow starter so the early rounds are important for Waylon Law. Asis hasn't fought in around eleven months so will there be any ring rust? Waylon Law needs to test out that theory. Law has very good hands and is a good finisher as witnessed in great wins over Brent Elliott and Nathaniel May. He's also durable outlasting Weerachit Kitee over ten rounds to win the WBC continental strap. He has a good kitbag of punches headlined by a great left uppercut and he will look to score with it. JACK ASIS - The man is a World champion for a reason. He's a very complete fighter. Asis will likely start cautiously looking to find openings in Waylon law's defence. He has very fast hands and is very tough to hit - but will his timing be a little off after eleven months out? Counterpunch thinks that's unlikely but you never know. Counterpunch feels Asis needs to throw a lot of leather in this one - Waylon Law will, so if he sits back he could find himself behind on the score cards. The key for Asis is to get into rhythm early and seize control. FIGHT PREDICTION A good contest. Counterpunch feels the first three rounds of this bout are key. In particular for Waylon Law, he needs to start fast and take the early ascendency. Asis will come on strong (if in doubt ask Kye Mackenzie). Both men have good hands and great movement. It will be a great fight to watch. ![]() |
