METUDA TO AVENGE DUNO?S SETBACK AGAINST ALEXEEV PhilBoxing.com Sun, 08 May 2016 ![]() Metuda (C). FILIPINO fighter Rimar ?Terminator? Metuda of General Santos City will get his chance to avenge the loss of his stablemate Romero ?Ruthless? Duno against newly-crowned WBO Intercontinental super featherweight champion Mikhail Alexeev of Russia. Alexeev, who won by a unanimous decision over Duno last May 7 at the DIVS in Ekaterinburg, Russia, will make his first title-defense against Metuda on July 11 also in Ekaterinburg in the undercard of Sergey Kovalevs world title defense. ?Babawi tayo,? said manager Dexter ?Wangyu? Tan, chief finance officer of Sanman Promotions, who accompanied Duno and Metuda in Russia. Metuda, 22, was also supposed to fight in the same card for the WBO Intercontinental Youth featherweight title but it was cancelled after his opponent Mark Urvanov (6W-1L-0D-3KOs) was hospitalized due to dehydration before the weigh-in. Alexeev connected more punches after Duno suffered a nasty cut on his left eye due to a headbutt in the 3rd round. ?Natamaan si Duno ng headbutt several times that?s why he has a cut above the left eye and a bruised sa lower right eye,? said Tan. Duno hurt the Russian in the first round and almost knocked him down in the 7th round. Alexeev won by throwing more punches compared to Duno?s power punches. ?It was a good fight for Duno and experience. Fighting outside is not an easy task for him. I hope he learned something and I know he will bounce back as a champion coz he is a brave young boxer and a fighter,? said Tan. Duno only suffered his first setback after 9 straight wins with 8 KOs. Metuda, 22, is currently the vacant WBF Asia Pacific featherweight title via a 5th round TKO win over Jason Tinampay last September 26, 2015 in Gensan. The 20-year old Duno recently captured the Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) super featherweight crown by stopping Jason Egera in the 8th round last February 13 at the Gaisano Mall Gensan. ![]() |
