SANTISIMA ADDS ANOTHER KO VICTIM TO HIS RESUME (PHOTOS)

Lost in the euphoria of Nonito Donaire's 3rd round demolition of Hungary's Zsolt Bedak and Mark Magsayo's dramatic turn-around to stop Chris Avalos in the 6th round during Saturday's blockbuster Top Rank / ALA Promotions / ABS-CBN Card at the Cebu City Sports Center, was the first round knockout victory of Jeo Santisima over Thailand's Tabhtong Tor Buamas in their 8-round scheduled super bantamweight contest.

Santisima, 19, showed why he has to be considered as one of the hardest punchers to come out in the current crop of young fighters from the Philippines as he dispatched the overmatched Thai in a business-like fashion, landing a series of body blows before finishing off Buamas with a left cross to the chin as the hapless Thai fell to the canvas like a log at 2:59 in the first round.

The trial horse Buamas (14-4-0, 12KO) lost by decision to Juan Miguel Elorde in his last fight just last month for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific super bantamweight title. After registering 11 straight victories, he lost to AJ Banal by knockout in 2006 and did not fight back until 2012.

Santisima (10-2-0, 9KO) of Aroroy, Masbate who had been initially trained by his father to box, lost a couple of fights early in his career but has now racked up eight straight knockout victories, the most impressive of whom was against veteran slugger Marco Demecillo last Feb. 27 at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City where he rose from a second round knockdown to stop Demecillo in the 6th round.

According to ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer, Santisima's next ring appearance could be at ALA's July 9 card in San Francisco, California or 'Santino', as he is also called, could headline the re-launching of the IDOL series on July 16 at the Mandaue Coliseum. Aldeguer also said that Santisima will join Albert Pagara and Mark Magsayo to train in the US.
