Big punters clean up on Anthony Joshua ? But who is next for the new IBF World Heavyweight Champion?
PhilBoxing.com Mon, 11 Apr 2016

William Hill reported big money on Anthony Joshua just before the new IBF world champion defeated Charles Martin on Saturday night at the O2. The bookmakers, who sponsored the fight, took a ?45,000 bet on AJ at odds of 2/9 and two other bets of ?20,000 at the same odds. The firm also reported a further six 5-figure wagers on the Watford man claiming the title before the first bell was rang.
Punters also backed Joshua at odds of 3/10 to KO Martin and could have backed the 2012 Olympic Champion to stop the American in the second round at odds of 7/1.
The eyes of the boxing world are now on who Joshua will fight next ? and William Hill have priced up several possible match-ups. The firm make Joshua a 4/7 favourite to beat David Haye (11/8), 1/12 to beat Dereck Chisora (6/1) and 8/11 to beat the WBA (Super), WBO, IBO and The Ring magazine Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
?We believe AJ is the best heavyweight on the planet, said William Hill spokesman Tony Kenny, We know he?s only had sixteen fights but he?ll be the favourite to beat any other fighter in the division right now.?
