MOISES FUENTES DESTROYS FILIPINO CONTENDER ROMEL ASENJO IN ONE ROUND

 Fuentes.
Former world champion Moses 'Moi' Fuentes (24-2-1, 13 KOs) who is expected to face reigning WBO light flyweight champion Donnie Nietes of the famed ALA Boxing Gym at the StubHub Center in Carson City, California in September, destroyed Filipino contender Rommel Asenjo (28-5, 20 KOs) with a series of ripping punches that forced the referee to stop the bout at 1 minute and 48 seconds of the first round.
Boxing Scene reported that Fuentes promptly declared he is ready for a world title clash with the longest reigning Filipino world champion Nietes in September after ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer came to terms with Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions to allow Nietes to face Raul ?Rayito? Garcia in a title defense in May before facing Fuentes who is the mandatory challenger.
Asenjo was no match for Fuentes who was coming off a big win against former champion Francisco Rodriguez Jr whom he beat by a split decision on July 25, 2015 and that victory gave him the right to go for the 108-pound WBO world title currently held by Donnie Nietes.
The 27 year old southpaw Asenjo, nicknamed ?My Little Assassin? has lost three of his last six fights by knockouts and suffered a TKO defeat at the hands of WBO/WBA champion Juan Francisco Estrada on March 28, 2015.
With the loss, Asenjo dropped to 28-5 with 20 knockouts while Fuentes who figured in a majority draw in his first encounter with Nietes in March 2013 was battered by Nietes in a rematch, going down three times in the 9th round to lose by a TKO on May 10, 2014.
