BRENT RICE ADDED TO MAY13 CARD TGW & Smithy Bring the Big Fights 13

PhilBoxing.com

BRENT RICE IS THE FRESH FACED STAR ON THE RISE. Dan Beverly is the firey, rugged proud New South Welshmen keen to end Rice's winning ways. The two have signed on to meet in a four round light weight bout on the stacked TGW & Smithy Bring the Big fights 13 card on May 13 at Rumours International.

Rice has made every post a winner in the pro ranks with three victories to his name from three bouts. On his resume he has wins over James Katz, who was undefeated until he faced Rice, and Fred Mundraby - a dual Australian champion with international experience.

However none of the above information has Dan Beverly worried.

"Dan Beverly wanted this fight," Promoter Brendon Smith said.

"Finding domestic opponents for Brent Rice is extremely difficult, but Dan Beverly didn't hesitate.

"His performance against another top prospect in Steven Spark showed he has ability and this is a test for Brent Rice.

"Dan brings a different style Brent's not use to and I have no doubt the reason they've taken this fight is because they believe they can unsettle Brent and take him out of his rhythm.

"It will be the walk forward puncher against the boxer so it makes for a very entertaining bout."BRENT RICE IS THE FRESH FACED STAR ON THE RISE. Brent Rice has turned plenty of heads in his first three pro bouts.

As an amateur Rice was one of Australia's best. State titles, national titles, state and national golden gloves highlight his glittering resume.

He represented Australia on the international stage.

He's considered one of Australia's hottest young prospects.

"I don't listen to any of the hype," Brent Rice said.

"I just do my job and train as hard as I can and trust my father as my trainer and Brendon Smith as my manager.

"They'll pick the right path for my career.

"Dan Beverly is the man in front of me now so I'll do everything I can to be the best I can be on May 13.

"I watched him fight Steven Spark so I know he will pour on a lot of pressure and I need to use that to suit my counter boxing skills.

"It's going to be a tough fight and I'll most certainly have to fight smart to ensure my hand is raised at the end.

"I can't wait to fight at home again, there is nothing better.

"Hopefully we get a big crowd to support myself and the other local fighters on the card."

The Brent Rice vs Dan Beverly just adds another dimension to a stacked fight card already.

**EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENTS STILL TO COME INVOLVING KRIS GEORGE, STEVEN SPARK AND SOME HUGE AMATEUR BOUTS.

"We have an offer on the table for a highly rated fighter to take on Kris George," Brendon Smith said.

"If they put pen to paper it will undoubtedly be the biggest test of Kris' career.

"Steven Spark is also a big chance of fighting on the card, we just need to monitor the hand injury he picked up in his last bout - but so far so good.

"We also will have a number of amateur title fights on this big card which we will announce soon.

"Tickets will go on sale soon - we will post those details on our TGW & Smithy's Promotions facebook page as soon as possible."
