BEN WARBURTON VS WILL YOUNG: GRUDGE MATCH PhilBoxing.com Mon, 14 Mar 2016 ![]() Contracts sent for Will Young Australian title defence against Ben Warburton on May 13 AFTER A WAR OF WORDS OVER SOCIAL MEDIA it's now time for Ben Warburton and Will Young to walk the walk. They've certainly talked the talk - in particular Ben Warburton. It's a fight that has brewed for several months with Warburton constantly calling out Will Young via social media. The Australian Super featherweight champ has stayed quiet until Sunday morning when he publicly responded to the call outs. Now contracts have been sent to Warburton's camp for a May 13 showdown for the Australian super featherweight title. "They have a contract right now," Young's Trainer-Manager Brendon Smith said. "I sent it to them yesterday now all they need to do is sign it and send it back and we have a match - Iron Will Young vs Ben Warburton. "Subject to approval from the ANBF it will be for Will's Australian super featherweight title. "The ball is in Ben Warburton's camp - all I need is a signature and based on what he's been saying on facebook - he shouldn't have any hesitation in signing off on this one." Will Young explained why he waited until Sunday to respond publicly to any of Warburton's previous call outs. "Talk's cheap, It's not my style," Young said. "He's been doing plenty of barking and good luck to him. "The reason I've paid no notice to any of his comments is firstly - because until now I haven't had a fight date locked in. "Secondly, he had a fight commitment last Saturday so out of respect to him I didn't feel it was appropriate to be talking to him about a future fight until he had cleared that commitment. "Thirdly until last Saturday night he's been fighting at lightweight and super lightweight so I wanted to see him make the super featherweight limit. "Right now it makes sense to talk about this fight, I have a fight date locked in, he doesn't have any fight commitments coming up and he's made super featherweight. "I'm happy to defend my title against him. "Sign away Ben and let's make it happen, I'm in one corner it's up to you if you want to be in the other," Young said. After what Ben Warburton has said on facebook - It shouldn't take too long for him to send the signed contract back to Brendon Smith. On facebook Warburton said. "I have no problem coming into your home town and ripping your Australian title away from you in front of your fans. Get your management to call mine and send the contract. Let's do this," Warburton said. "I'm coming to knock you out and toast my Tooheys New with my whole team." If the contract is signed it's a block buster fight for the May 13 card TGW & Smithy Bring the Big Fights 13. The fight card will be held at Rumours International. More information on the card will be released in coming weeks. ![]() |
