FILIPINO BOXER’S REAL IDENTITY REVEALED By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Fri, 20 Jul 2007 GAB chairman Eric Buhain doesn’t need to investigate the report that boxer Roger Monserto fought and lost an eight round decision to former world flyweight champion Chatchai Sasakul earlier this week without GAB clearance. The former manager of Pit Anacaya, Yolly Alfante said she was aware that Anacaya uses the name Roger Monserto at times when he fights in Thailand. Alfante said Anacaya has been in Bangkok since last year and had reportedly married and settled down in Thailand. Anacaya was one of the fighters found to have left the country without the necessary approval from the GAB to fight in Thailand along with Lito Sisnorio and several others contacted by matchmaker Panya who was linked to Bong Obero who is facing charges of illegal recruitment and was arrested by the NBI. The report from well-known journalist Scott Malon said the Chatchai-Monserto fight last July 18 was a farce and he couldn’t understand how Monserto whose record was listed at 0-3 by boxrec.com could be allowed to fight Chatchai who had a record of 60-3 with 38 knockouts. Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today alerted the GAB after receiving an urgent call from Bangkok regarding the mismatch the day of the fight . However, the GAB's Tony Comia said the GAB did not approve the fight and had no record of a fighter named Roger Monserto. Anacaya who has no GAB license to fight in Thailand has a record of 4-6-2. He dropped a unanimous twelve round decision in a fight for the vacant WBC Asia Boxing Council minimum weight title to Pigmy Muangchaiyaphum last January 16 also in Bangkok.
