LUIS SANTOS STOPS RAFAEL SILVA AT MAIN EVENT OF ONE: TRIBE OF WARRIORS

PhilBoxing.com

20 February 2016 ? Jakarta, Indonesia: The largest sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship? (ONE), rocked the Istora Senayan with another evening of world-class mixed martial arts action. The best in local and international MMA athletes graced the stage at ONE: TRIBE OF WARRIORS to provide an unforgettable experience for the packed crowd in Jakarta. In the main event, Luis Santos returned to the ONE Championship cage with another epic performance, defeating Rafael Silva by technical knockout.

In the main event of the evening, Luis ?Sapo? Santos of Brazil delivered the goods in a successful return to the ONE Championship cage by making quick work of Portugal?s Rafael ?The Machine? Silva. After a brief moment where both fighters carefully sized each other up, Santos unleashed a single knee to Silva?s body which dropped him to the mat. A technical ground kick from Santos landed shortly after and the referee stepped in to stop the contest.

An exciting battle of dynamic strikers ensued as Kotetsu ?No Face? Boku went head-to-head against Vincent ?Magnivincent? Latoel. After an electric first round from both fighters, Boku?s accurate striking started to take its toll in the second. With Boku in full mount, the Japanese veteran went immediately for the ground-and-pound to earn the technical knockout.

Colossal heavyweights Marcin Prachnio and Alexandre Machado traded some serious leather at the center of the cage in a crowd-pleasing fight. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist Machado looked to take matters to the ground but Prachnio had different plans. After rocking Machado with a punch, Prachnio followed up with a lethal combination of strikes, forcing the stoppage.

American wrestler Andrew Leone earned a hard-fought unanimous decision victory over the durable Koetsu Okazaki of Japan after spending two years away from professional competition. Leone drove Okazaki with his cage control and various takedowns throughout the fight. Although Okazaki found success with ground-and-pound late in the second round, Leone regained command in the third by taking Okazaki?s back and threatening with a choke. All three judges saw the bout in favor of the American.

Anthony ?The Archangel? Engelen of the Netherlands made quick work of featherweight prospect Rocky ?The Outlaw? Batolbatol of the Philippines, forcing the latter to tap out due to a rear naked choke in round one. Batolbatol used his boxing to keep Engelen temporarily at bay but once the Dutch fighter was able to close the gap, things went south quickly for the Filipino. An outside leg trip brought the fight to the mat where Engelen was quick to secure Batolbatol?s back and lock in the submission.

The Philippines? Trestle Tan returned to the winner?s circle with a submission victory over Djatmiko Waluyo. Tan secured a rear naked choke to force the tap in the first round.

?Unstoppable? Angela Lee continued her winning ways by defeating Rebecca Heintzman of the United States with another submission -- her fourth straight as a professional. Although Heintzman had some success in striking exchanges, Lee dominated in the grappling department, eventually securing a rear naked choke to force the stoppage in the second round.

Jimmy ?The Silencer? Yabo of the Philippines made quick work of Pakistan?s Bashir Ahmad, earning the stoppage in under 30 seconds. As Ahmad rushed in aggressively, Yabo stepped back to unleash a sharp counter right hook which landed on the button, dropping the Pakistani. With Ahmad out in one fell swoop, the referee called a halt to the bout.

Indonesians Yohan Mulia Legowo and Mario Satya Wirawan set the pace of the entire card with a furious energy, attacking each other with vicious strikes from the opening bell. After the action wound up against the cage, Legowo secured a standing Guillotine choke and pulled guard, forcing Wirawan to tap out.

Li Hao Jie of China and Jerome S Paye of Liberia kicked off ONE: TRIBE OF WARRIORS with a gruelling three-round scrap. Li dominated in his ONE Championship debut with striking and takedowns to earn a unanimous decision.
