LOWELL, Mass. Returning New England welterweight champion Xavier Vega, representing Canal Street Boxing in Lawrence (MA), was a 4-1 winner against Michael Fontenez, of Nashua, NH.

Peter Welch's Gym in South Boston led the hit parade with three winners, all in the novice class: lightweight Jonathan Depina, welterweight Lipi Fernandes and middleweight Brian Lawrence. The Lowell West End Gym was the only other with more than one winner last night, both in the open class, lightweight Brandon Higgins and light welterweight Jeremiah Perez.

The CNE championship finals, featuring open and novice class matches, will be held next Thursday night (Feb. 4) at Lowell Memorial Auditorium. See the remaining 2016 schedule below as well as last night's results.
