NBA -- Cavs get even with Wizards, take win streak to 5 By Nico R. Occidental PhilBoxing.com Fri, 08 Jan 2016 WASHINGTON -- The Cleveland Cavaliers squeaked past the Washington Wizards, 121-115, on Wednesday night at the Verizon Center. With their fifth straight win, the Cavs avenged their 97-85 defeat to the Wizards last December 1 at the Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland. The host Wizards started off strong, playing with a lot of energy and out-pointed the visitors 13-8 early in the 1st quarter. It was looking good until the Cavs made adjustments and ended the 2nd quarter with a 19-7 run, which gave them a 12 point advantage going into the half. The 3rd quarter was a different story. The Wiz kids made their adjustments and produced an impressive comeback with the help of Garrett Temple dropping 14 points (19 total) and was 3 out of 5 beyond the arc.Otto Porter (12 pts) contributed with his shooting to the cut the deficit and eventually tying the game early in the last quarter of the game. Then the wizardy of the home team died down and the real magician, Kyrie Irving, took center stage and torched the Wizards with a 10-0 run all by himself. He finished with 32 points by going 14-for-22 from the field and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. John Wall contributed 18 points in the second half and was lights out at the 3 point line going for a perfect 4-4. But the Cleveland Cavs were just too much to handle. King James had the game high 34 points while J.R. Smith added 25 points.
