JAMIE HILT TO TAKE ON BEN KITE ON JANUARY 29

PhilBoxing.com

TOOWOOMBA WELTERWEIGHT PROSPECT JAMIE HILT will take on Brisbane's Ben Kite in an all Queensland showdown on the undercard of Herman Ene-Purcell vs Paul Gallen II at Rumours International on January 29.

Hilt, trained in the Garden City by Craig Monagle and Kite, trained by Steve Deller from Fortitude Valley will clash in a four round welterweight bout.

"This is a great all Queensland match between two fighters in form," Promoter Brendon Smith said.

"Both boys are coming off victories and are both in strong camps.

"Jamie is a very popular fighter in Toowoomba and every time he fights he earns new fans.

"Jamie is unbeaten in three fights while Ben hasn't tasted defeat in his last four so both are on the rise," Smith said.

Ben Kite has a career record of 6 fights for three wins, one draw and two losses.

After losing the first two bouts of his career, he's bounced back to record three wins and a majority draw in his last four.

Hilt, who was a late starter to the sport after years of playing rugby league, has had a busy 2015 with three fights since June for two wins and a draw.

"Jamie is a real talent," trainer Craig Monagle said.

"He's really adapted to professional boxing with great ease.

"He's a pleasure to train.

"He trains hard and fights hard that's why he's won so many fans.

"Ben Kite is a good fighter so this is a good test for Jamie.

"It's great to feature on this big card, we're looking forward to it," Monagle said.

The Jamie Hilt vs Ben Kite match is the second bout announced for the under card on January 29. The other being the clash between Brent Moore and Ashley Stevens.

It's expected Steven Spark, who is on the comeback trail will also feature on the card.

Further announcements will be made in the coming weeks.

"Tickets are selling fast so I urge the public to get in quick and be a part of this huge event," Brendon Smith said.
