Oliva arrives in South Africa for title fight By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Thu, 17 Dec 2015 ![]() World Boxing Federation Asia Pacific flyweight champion Jether ?The General? Oliva of General Santos City arrived already in South Africa for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Africa super flyweight title on December 18 in East London. Oliva (23-3-2) will face International Boxing Federation (IBF) world super flyweight champion Zolani Tete (21-3-0) of South Africa. ?Jether knows he is facing a very talented fighter in Tete. But he will do everything to shock the world,? said young boxing manager-promoter Jim Claude ?JC? Manangquil of Sanman Promotions. Oliva, 28, is being accompanied by his trainer Renie Gabawa and Ramon Falgui. He is still five pounds over the 115 lbs. weight limit. ?That?s not a problem since he can still get the weight limit on Dec. 17?s official weigh-in,? said Manangquil. Oliva previously won against Ryan Ralozo by a 3rd round technical knockout last August 23 at the BS Gym in Lanao del Norte. He also captured the vacant WBF Interntional light flyweight title by a majority decision win over Wilber Andogan on May 24, 2014 at the Lagao Gym in Gensan. This will not be Oliva?s first time to fight in South Africa. Last year, he fought but lost to Moruti Mthalane by a split decision in their 12-round title-fight for the vacant IBO world flyweight crown held March 15 at the Durban International Convention Centre in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. Oliva, a former WBO Oriental minimumweight champion, also lost by a unanimous decision to Mexican Ulises Solis in their IBF world light flyweight title-fight held August 27, 2011 in Mexico. The 27-year old Tete, on other hand, stopped Paul Butler by an 8th round TKO to defend his IBF world super flyweight crown last March 6 at the Echo Arena, Liverpool, Merseyside, United Kingdom. Tete, a southpaw, also won by an 8th round TKO against Diuhl Olguin in his previous assignment last September 4 at the Orient Theatre, East London, Eastern Cape. Tete captured the IBF world super flyweight crown by dethroning Japanese Teiru Kinoshita by a unanimous decision last July 18, 2014 at the Portopia Hotel in Kobe, Hyogo, Japan. Tete also lost to Mthalane by a 5th round TKO in their battle for the IBF world flyweight crown last Sept. 1, 2010. ?
