Salva?a flies to Australia for WBA Oceania title fight

PhilBoxing.com

UNDEFEATED Markquil Salva?a of General Santos City left Tuesday for his championship fight against knockout artist Jason Moloney of Australia on December 18 in Melbourne, Australia for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) Oceania super bantamweight title.

Salva?a (9-0-0-3 KOs) was accompanied by his two bosses Jim
Claude ?JC? Manangquil and Dexter ?Wangyu? Tan, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Finance Officer, respectively of the Sanman Promotions.

The title-fight was earlier set last December 2 at the Hisense Arena but was postponed by the promoter.

?Salva?a is now in good condition. He still weights at 125 pounds but he can easily lose the three extra pounds when we arrive in Melbourne,? said Mananquil a few hours before their flight.

They boarded Philippine Airlines PR209 at 9:10 p.m. Tuesday night and were expected to arrive in Melbourne the following day at 8 a.m.

Salva?a, a native of Cagayan de Oro City has sparred more than 100 rounds already in preparation for this fight.

He previously won against former Philippine champion Philip Parcon via a 6th round technical knockout last Sept. 26 at the Gaisano Mall Atrium in Gensan.

?Salva?a is confident that he can beat Jason Moloney and bring home the title,? said Tan.

Moloney, however, is also undefeated with a clean record of four straight wins all by TKO. He has already beaten two Filipino boxers all by knockouts.

In his last fight, Moloney survived a second round knockdown to stop Filipino Danilo Gabisay of Bulacan in the 5th round last Aug. 19 at the Hisense Arena.

Moloney, who hails from Victoria, made his successful pro debut with a first round stoppage over Ngaotawan Sithsaithong last Aug. 15, 2014 at the Melbourne Pavilion. His next victim was Indonesian Egy Rozten also by a first round TKO on Oct. 17 last year at the La Mirage Convention Center in Victoria.

Moloney continued his winning form with a 3rd round TKO victory against another Filipino Alvin Bais of Gensan last March 6, 2015 at the Royal Exhibition Building also in Victoria. - LITO DELOS REYES
