HERMINATOR WARNS GALLEN: WORRY ABOUT ME NOT SBW

PhilBoxing.com

Talk of a Gallen SBW 2016 showdown has prompted the Herminator to warn Blues captain you have to get through me first on January 29.

HERMAN ENE-PURCELL HAS SENT A FIRM WARNING TO PAUL GALLEN following weekend media speculation Gallen is eyeing off a fight with Sonny Bill Williams in late 2016.

"Forget about Sonny Bill Williams," Herman Ene-Purcell said.

"He has to worry about fighting me on January 29 in my home town of Toowoomba.

"He's signed the contract to fight me so that should be his only focus - not Sonny Bill Williams."

In a story printed by sportingnews.com the New South Wales origin captain was quoted saying: "SBW could be on the cards later next year."

"Hopefully management can get together and sort it out," Gallen said in the story via sporting news.com

Last month Gallen signed a substantial contract for a re-match with Herman Ene-Purcell on January 29 at Rumours International in Toowoomba.

It's set to be the biggest sporting event of 2016 in the Garden City.

"I can understand the banter of a possible showdown between Paul Gallen and Sonny Bill Williams however it's not appropriate for them to talk about it now," Ene-Purcell's Trainer/Manager Brendon Smith said.

"I heard Paul saying he hopes the manager's can get together and sort it out - my response to that - relax.

"Until January 30 you have nothing to discuss.

"Paul is contracted to fight Herman on January 29.

"He has signed and agreed to the contract and one of the clauses clearly states he cannot discuss or negotiate any further fights between now and January 29.

"The best thing Paul and his manager can do is to finalise with me a launch date in Toowoomba for the January 29 re-match.

"I've already burnt money on flights for Paul for a launch date that had to be cancelled at short notice because of a commitment with the Cronulla Sharks.

"In all due respects that should be their number one priority.

"Paul is obligated to help promote this event so therefore he shouldn't be talking about or promoting a bout with Sonny Bill Williams or anyone else.

"My advice to Paul and his manager is focus on promoting this fight and fullfilling your obligations for the re-match with Herman and not any other fight.

"We respect and understand Paul has plenty of commitments in Sydney and I trust he appreciates and understands our commitments up here in promoting the January 29 showdown.

"Hopefully we have a launch date confirmed this week.

"Paul is a great athlete and a great ambassador so we are very excited to have him in our home town for both a launch and the fight night.

"Toowoomba is buzzing in anticipation of the New South Blues captain coming to our town." Smith said.

As each week rolls by the anticipation for this re-match builds. Paul Gallen went on record saying he feels he's a better boxer, he's fitter and he's stronger than Ene-Purcell and the Herminator's only hope is a knock out.

It's a re-match two years in the making. Gallen climbed off the canvas in the opening round of their first bout to stop Ene-Purcell in the second.(Click on the button above to watch Gallen vs Ene-Purcell I)

Since their first meeting on February 19 in 2014 Gallen has improved his record to four wins and zero losses while Ene-Purcell has had a further 8 bouts for six wins (taking his record to seven wins and four losses) including an impressive win in China on one of Liu Gang's cards.

"Last but not least I would like to thank the sponsors and supporters who are behind this event.

"We live in the best city in the World and that's because of the people.

"Paul will see that on January 29 - the crowd will be passionate but also respectful of the presence of some one of the stature of Paul Gallen.

"Tickets are selling fast so I urge the public to get in quick and be a part of this huge event," Smith said.
