PhilBoxing.com

Guevarra.
World Boxing Council champions Pedro Guevara and Carlos ?Principe? Cuadras put on a show at a public workout at the famed Teiken Gym in Tokyo yesterday.

The WBC reported that light flyweight champion Guevara and flyweight king Cuadras put on a ?timely display of superlative skills prior to their respective commitments defending their WBC world titles this Saturday in Sendai, Japan.?

Guevara and Cuadras trained at the practice hall, which was completely crowded with the boxing media who were eagerly and patiently waiting for what the WBC website described as ? the master-class exhibition of the WBC Champions.

Guevara puts his WBC light flyweight championship on the line, facing Yu Kimara, who is ranked 2 on the WBC lists. Guevara came along with his team, Marcos Hern?ndez, Radames Hern?ndez and Miguel Mendoza. He left a great impression on the press.

Guevara (26-1-1, 17 KO?s), should he win, will next face No.1 ranked Filipino Jonathan Taconing said ?I am here in Japan to prove that my triumph of the last year was not luck at all. I am in a great physical and mental condition to successfully defend my crown.?

On the other hand unbeaten Carlos Cuadras (33-0-1, 26 KO?s) stakes his WBC super flyweight championship when he faces former world champion, Koki Eto. Carlos was accompanied by his trainer, Rudy Hernandez. He showed his speed and power stating he is absolutely ready to win.

The popular Cuadras said ?I came to Japan with the intention of knocking out my opponent, not because I am afraid of the local judges but to prove my position, and to make clear who is the best super flyweight in all the world. I want to unify with Inoue. I have been told he will be near watching me. The Reign of Carlos Cuadras will be long. you better know, appreciate and understand that!"

Cuadras scored a 6th round TKO over Filipino Marvin Mabait on November 13 last year while Guevara registered a 1st round TKO over another Filipino Richard Claveras on April 11 this year.
