WBC PRESIDENT MAURICIO SULAIMAN SAYS ?CANELO? ALVAREZ DESERVED TO WIN
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Wed, 25 Nov 2015

In the face of some media reports and former pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr, taking issue with the judges lopsided scorecards in favor of the new middleweight champion Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez over Miguel Cotto, World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman has stressed that Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez was ?technically superior and more accurate throwing heavier punches, to win the WBC middleweight crown from Miguel Cotto.?
The WBC website also reported that Sulaiman ?also regrets that some media, hurt a night dedicated to boxing and fans and he's encouraging the ones who saw a different fight to objectively sit down and watch the entire event once again.?
Except for Cotto himself and his trainer Freddie Roach who thought that Cotto out-boxed ?Canelo? ahd won the fight, most of the criticism was against the three judges who gave the Puerto Rican former champion only one, two or three rounds while Mayweather claimed while ?Canelo? clearly won the fight Cotto deserved at least four rounds.
?Dodong? Donaire, father/trainer of former five division world champion and 2012 ?Fighter of the Year? Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire told the New Standard/boxingmirror.com that ?if Cotto tried to fight instead of boxing for survival, ?Canelo? would have knocked him out within ten rounds because he was really to good.?
At the same time Mauricio advised that the WBC will wait until Monday to announce the status, dates and facts regarding the fight against WBC interim middleweight champion, Gennady ?GGG? Golovkin.
Without giving more details regarding the situation of Miguel Cotto, the WBC President extended congratulations to the new middleweight king and to his team for their victory.
