GENERAL SANTOS ? Undefeated John Vincent Moralde (14-0-0, 7KO) of Davao City won by unanimous decision over Cebu's Jerry Castroverde (6-2-0, 3KO) in the main undercard of the thrilling Demecillo-Basadre WBF Asia-Pacific bantamweight championship at the Gaisano Mall of Gensan Saturday night. Castroverde's come forward style played perfectly to Moralde's accurate counterpunching as Castroverde played catch up over 10 rounds. Scores were 96-93, 96-93 and 98-91.

Metuda engages Tinampay in close quarters.

Rimar Metuda improved his undefeated record to 8 wins and 4 knockouts after he stopped Jason Tinampay (6-2-0, 5KO) of Bohol in the 5th round and captured the WBF Asia-Pacific featherweight title. Tinampay's corner threw in the towel after blood continued to drip from Tinampay's broken nose courtesy of a crushing right straight from Metuda in the 3rd round.

In a highly entertaining fight, local boy Markquil Salvana (8-0-0, 3KO) forced ring jester and veteran journeyman Philip Parcon (26-22-3, 8KO) to surrender in the 6th round after Parcon thought he had enough punishment for the night of their 8-round junior featherweight contest. Salvana and Parcon exchanged knockdowns in the 3rd round. Parcon's ring antics of fighting like a drunken master entertained the crowd while the fight lasted. Parcon came in 13 lbs overweight and wore 14-oz gloves.

Engelbert Moralde throws a right on Formentera.

The 8-round super flyweight bout between Cebu's Joyjoy Formentera (7-1-0, 4KO) and Davao's Engelbert Moralde (8-3-0, 6KO) shaped up to be a classic tactical fight as Moralde took the upperhand in the first two rounds. In the eventful 3rd round, Moralde knocked down Formentera with a well-timed left counter but appeared spent when he tried to finish off Formentera in the round. Formentea played the aggressor the remainder of the night as Moralde tried to catch up some air. Formentera went on to win by split decision with scores of 75-76, 76-75 and 74-77.

Plania stops Magluyan with a liver shot.
The shortest bout of the night was registered by the undefeated 'Magic' Mike Plania (7-0-0, 4KO) of General Santos who took out Roland Magluyan (4-7-2, 0KO) of Zamboanga City at 13 seconds in the first round with a liver shot.

In other results:

Tabugon downs Sabellina.
Raymond Tabugon (17-3-1, 6KO) of General Santos City KO Jong Sabellina (5-11-0) of Zamboanga in the round 1.

Jenny Boy Buca (10-2-0, 10KO) of Camiguin KO Michael Padayag (3-5-1, 0KO) of Bukidnon at 35 seconds of the second round.

Raymart Gaballo (10-0-0, 8KO) stopped Frejun de la Cruz (2-6-1, 1KO) of Bukidnon in the first round.

Paras jabs Barambagan.
In the opening bout, highly touted 16-year-old youngster Vinz Paras (3-0-0, 3KO) of Sarangani won by 4th round TKO over Saddam Barambagan (3-9-1, 2KO) of General Santos when Saddam refused to answer the bell in the 4th round of their 6-round minimumweight bout. Paras showed power in both hands and threw rapid-fire combinations.
